RTI-Behavior at LMS

We have been working on RTI, which is a Federal Mandate, for at least four years. The Response to Intervention model, called PBIS, applies a three-tiered system of support, and a problem-solving process to ensure that we are meeting the needs of ALL students.  There are two parts of the mandate, academic and behavior.  The Academic Interventions are Reading Workshop and Math Literacy where all students are screened to ensure they get the correct level of support.  The second part of the mandate is Behavior, thus RTI-B.  A team of excited faculty attend trainings meet regularly to support ALL students. This year the Habits of Mind and Habits of Citizenship will help us determine interventions for students.  Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports (PBIS) is a proactive systems approach to establishing the behavioral supports and social culture and needed for all students in a school to achieve social, emotional, and academic success.

All for one and one FOR ALL.....

Habits of Mind and Citizenship are alive and well at LMS.  After the winter break students and faculty met to set the standards for our standards for how we work together at school.  RESPECT, SPEAK UP, OWN IT, FOCUS, DRIVE, ENGAGE and PRESENCE are behaviors we value.   To support these habits we will be starting our trading card program. The cards are revised thanks to Mrs. Carney and fabulous.  Student will be collecting sets of cards and have a team wide system of keeping track of incentives for collecting at set.  This program will be in full swing March 1.   More to come on this topic.....
